Conservation Treatment
Dr. R.Kannan, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Tamilnadu had visited the Susinthiram temple at KannyaKumari district and noticed that the oil painting on canvas of His Highness Sri Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma (1885 -1924) and lithoprints of Temple entry Proclamation and Sri Chithirai Thirunal Bala RamaVarma (1924-1949) needed conservation treatment.
As per the instructions those paintings were taken to the Chemical Conservation Laboratory of Government Museum, Chennai and were restored and conserved as per conservation norms.
Lakshminarayanan Endowment Lecture - 2014
Lakshminarayanan Endowment Lecture – 2014 was organised on 24th February 2014 at the Centenary Exhibition Hall . Thiru S Ramakrishnan, I.A.S., (Retired Chief Information Officer of the State) has Presided Over the function. Dr. R. Kannan, I.A.S., Principal Secretary to Government, Tourism, Culture and Religious Endowment Department delivered the first lecture on 'Tiruppudaimarudur Murals'. He elucidated the importance and historical paintings of Tiruppudaimarudur temple. These stucco murals are to be seen in all the five tires of the ‘Narumbunathar Temple, Tiruppudaimarudur. Various aspects of daily life of the ascetics, Tamraparani War, Horse trading were the highlights of the presentation. Hon’ble Justice S. Rathinavel Pandian, former Judge of Supreme Court of India was also present on the occasion.
