GEOLOGY SECTION - LECTURE - 16.06.2011
Government Museum, Chennai celebrated WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2011. In this connection, a special lecture was organized on “ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION” to create awareness among the public. A special lecture was delivered by Dr. C. Lakshmi Narasimhan, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, Anna University, Chennai.
Thiru S.S. Jawahar, IAS., Commissioner Of Museums, Government of Tamilnadu, presided over the programme.

'Lecture on Urban Wetlands'
In connection with the World Environment Day, 2011, a lecture on ‘Urban Wetlands’ have been conducted in the Centenary Exhibition Hall of the Government Museum, Chennai on 03.06.11 at 11.30 a.m.
The lecture was given by Dr. M.C. Sathyanarayana, Retired Professor of the Department of Zoology and Wildlilfe Biology, A.V.C. College, Mayiladuthurai.
The importance of Urban wetlands, List of wetlands of Chennai, Flora and Fauna of Urban Wetlands, Steps to Conserve the Urban Wetlands have been dealt with.
The function was presided by the Commissioner of Museums. Students and public have attended the programme.
