Dr.T.S. Sridhar, I.A.S, Principal Secretary / Commissioner of Museums received Thiru. Jawahar Sircar, I.A.S., Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Culture on 08.09.2009 at the Government Museum, Chennai. They visited the Bronze Gallery and Contemporary Art Gallery. A discussion session with him was organized by the Principal Secretary & Commission of Museums with the Curators. A number of suggestions on improvements to the galleries were mooted, under Museum Reforms to Upgrade the Metro Museums of India.

International Women's Association (IWA) - endowment lecture was organised by the Government Museum, Chennai on 10th September 2009, at the Museum Theatre. Dr. T. S. Sridhar I.A.S, Principal Secretary and Commissioner of Museums presided over the function, Dr.Gillian Juleff, Professor, Department of Archaeology, University of Exeter, United Kingdom delivered the endowment lecture on "Early Metallurgical Developments in Sri Lanka and wider Asian Technological Traditions". Nearly 500 participants attended the Lecture.
