Indian Miniature Paintings


The Prince of Arabia

     Size : 24 x 33.5 cm.

     Tempera on paper.

     Script: Persian.

     Scribe: Shah Mirza Hussain.

     Moghul school, Late 17th century AD.

     Acquired in 1963.

     The picture shows the prince holding a bowl in his left hand and arrow in the right hand and it seems that he is ready for going out.

The court of Emperor Babur

     Size : 24 x 33.5 cm.

     Tempera on paper.

     Scribe: Muhammad Kasim.

     Date: H-1132(1720 AD).

     Moghul school. 17th century AD.

     Acquired in 1963.

     The painting depicts the court of Emperor Babur, sitting among the people in the front side. An old man is than as narrating his grievance to the king. There are calligraphy writings on both sides of the painting.

     Tempera on paper.

     Moghul School. About 18th century AD.

     Got in exchange from the Museum and Picture Gallery, Baroda in 1952.
