        Swords



Sword

    The sword possesses a hilt bearing a crown and letters marked with words R.C. The sword was presented by Mr. Mir. Shah Nawarudin, Chennai.

Elephant Goads

   The collection of ceremonial and lethal weapons obtained from the Thanjavur armoury are exhibited. They include swords, daggers, maces,  elephant goads, choppers, knives, shields, spears, bows and arrows. Several of these weapons have carved designs of Yali, Makaras and parrots on them.

Maces

   Most of the maces are ornamentally fashioned. Handle is composed with a hilt like that of sword. They are made of steel.




Gauntlet Sword


   In a gauntlet sword, the head of an elephant is worked on the  gauntlet portion. The sword is being arranged to form its trunk.
