Sir George Stanley (1872-1934 AD)

        It is an oil painting painted by Oswald Birly, a British artist in the 19th century. Sir George Stanley became the Governor in 1929 - 1934, Fort St. George, Madras presidency. The picture shows the Governor in standing position. In memory of his achievements in the post of Governor of erstwhile government, the government hospital in Chennai has been named as Stanley hospital.

Sir Eyre Coote (1726-1783 AD)

        It is an oil painting painted by Thomas Hickey, a British artist worked in India during 19th century. During his stay in Madras from 1812 to 1824, he was employed for conserving the portraits of Governors and Generals. The portrait of Sir Eyre Coote had been copied on to a canvas by him. Sir Eyre Coote had served as the Commander-in-Chief of the army from 1769 to 1770 and 1778 to 1783.

 

 


 

Sir William Meadows (1738-1813 AD)

        It is an oil painting painted by Robert Home, a British artist in 18th century. The picture shows Sir William Meadows holding a bird in his right hand, Horse is standing behind him. He was the Governor of Fort St. George during 1790-1792.

        It is an oil painting painted by George Watson, a British worked in India in 19th century. Sir George Barlow became the Governor of Fort St. George, Madras Presidency in 1807.
